About Us

Pam Shwartz keeps her fingers on the pulse of the Southcoast, and loves to share the inside scoop with others.  From scoping out the best coffee shops in the area to planning epic family adventures for her kids, she’s always up for trying something new and exciting on the Southcoast.  She’s fascinated by the way that the area’s history and culture influence the constant evolution of her hometown region.

Born and raised on the Southcoast, Pam can trace back four generations of family based in New Bedford area.  Her family has been involved in the food industry of New Bedford since the 1940s, giving her a perspective on the food scene that you won’t find anywhere else.  An avid traveler and foodie, she’s visited 6 of 7 continents in the world and loves incorporating those flavors into her own cooking.  She especially enjoys planning excursions a bit off the beaten path; ask her about visiting the Baroness’s water buffalo in Italy or taking a 3 day boat ride to visit the wild komodo dragons in Indonesia just to name a few.  Having trained and worked as an archaeologist and an educator, she finally returned to New Bedford in 2019.  In 2021 just after their son was born Pam and her wife founded New Bedford Food Tours.  She is also the founder of Kan Fraternite diabetes camp, which ran in Montrois Haiti for 4 years.  She speaks conversational Spanish and Haitian Creole.

While not crafting itineraries and adventures you can find Pam enjoying time with her wife and 2 children, hiking local nature trails with her dog, whaleboat rowing, and cooking up exciting flavors in the kitchen.
